Cafe Praised by Expert - 12 May 2009
St Erth Station Buffet in West Cornwall has been named by rail guru Mark Smith as one of his Top 10 track side watering holes. St Erth w praised as "a tiny station where time appears to have stopped. You have to change for trains for the St Ives branch line here, so I always end up popping into the small independently run buffet for a cuppa". Jeremy Joslin, Manager was delighted that "our little old buffet has been recognised nationally after four years' hard work." - Hayle Oral History Project Launch - 3 May 2009
Over 150 people came along to the launch event, creating a real buzz about the project. One highlight was the premiere of an animation film created by local school children using soundbites of people's memories of the Hayle Regatta, photos and drawings. This project is part-funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and will run until the end of 2010. Details 01736 753962.
